Gais are perfect for those who's fingers are too sensitive to use the gaiwan. However, like a gaiwan with a glaze finish, the gai can be used to pour any type of tea. These white guys come in either a matte or lustre polished finish with a volume of 180cc.
The brown, unglazed gai is especially good for pu erh or aged oolong but should be used strictly for those teas once those teas are started in it. The volume of the brown gai is 300cc.
